This is a relatively new technique which aims to remove the entire breast tissue but preserve the nipple and the reconnect the nerve supplying the nipple. Some women are choosing to have this option, particularly high-endurance athletes or those who do not wish to consider immediate reconstruction. 

This is an increasing number of women who seek risk-reducing AFM due to inherited gene mutation and high risk for breast cancer based on strong family history.
