Autologous Latissimus Dorsi Flap Reconstruction with Implant

This is a well-established reconstruction technique which involves lifting a large muscle from the back - the latissimus dorsi or LD (usually with some skin) and bringing it to the front. The additional volume is achieved by using an implant behind the LD flap. This is a useful option for delayed reconstruction, especially in women who have previously undergone mastectomy with radiotherapy.
